Abstract: This study documents the first record of Shivaphis (Shivaphis) celti Das, 1918 (Hemiptera: Aphididae) on Celtis caucasica (Caucasian hackberry), a native plant species naturally distributed in the flora of Turkey. During fieldwork conducted on 30 July 2025 in the Harput district of Elazığ province, individuals of this aphid species were observed and collected directly from the plant. This is the first confirmed record of the species both on Celtis caucasica as a host and within the geographical boundaries of Elazığ province. The collected specimens were identified in the laboratory after field observations. This record demonstrates that Shivaphis celti is not limited to previously known hosts such as Celtis australis, but is also capable of developing on other Celtis species like C. caucasica. The findings suggest that this aphid species may have a broader host range and a greater ability to adapt to different environmental conditions than previously assumed. Moreover, this study contributes a new data point to the aphid fauna of Turkey and underscores the importance of regional entomological surveys in uncovering undocumented local biodiversity. In this context, the first record of S. celti on C. caucasica provides not only a new systematic finding but also valuable insight into host-plant interactions and potential distribution dynamics.
