Epidemiological study on Brucellosis in some farm animals and their breeders in Baghdad Governorate

Abstract: This study was conducted to detect the seroprevalence of Brucellosis of sheep, goat and cattle by using some serological tests Rose Bengal Plate Test (RBPT), 2-Mercaptoethanol test (2ME) and Competitive-ELISA (C-ELISA). In addition RBPT and indirect-ELISA (I-ELISA) IgM and IgG in human in Wassit governorate during the period December 2022 up to April 2023 of animals and from January up to May 2023 in human. The samples were collected randomly distributed in Baghdad governorate and examining (1474) animals consist of (882) sheep, (472) goat and (120) cattle of flocks suffering from abortion or not, in addition it was (1500) contact human. The results revealed that the incidence of brucellosis in sheep, goat and cattle depending on RBPT was 62(14.05%),27(11.44%) and 9(15%) while, 2ME that the most frequent titers are between 40-160 at percentage 70.96%, 48.14% and 22.22% respectively, and C-ELISA results were in accordance with seropositive RBPT 91.93%, 74.07% and 77.77% respectively with significant difference (p˂ 0.05). while a total percentage of infected Human depending on RBPT was 450(39.82%), and the I-ELISA IgM and IgG were in agreement with seropositive RBPT and in a percentage of 79.29% and 88.98%, respectively.
