A preliminary report on the insect pests at the community forest of Daringbadi, Odisha, India

Abstract: A field study was designed to investigate the insect pest’s fauna during November, 2024 from the community forests of Daringbadi area, Odisha. A total of 57 pest species belonging to 56 genera under 6 insect orders and 31 families were observed in different locations of Daringbadi community forests areas based on their nature of damage. The six orders recorded during the present study were Lepidoptera, Orthoptera, Hemiptera, Hymenoptera, Diptera and Coleoptera. Among these insect pests, the order Lepidoptera shows maximum relative abundance of 61.40% and the orders Orthoptera, Hymenoptera, and Diptera shows minimum relative abundance each with 3.51%. The present study reporting on the diversity of insect pests from the community forests of Daringbadi is for the first time, from this area.
