Recycling waste into useful organic fertiliser with vermicomposting
Author(s): Raosaheb K Barote
Abstract: Vermicomposting is an uncomplicated biotechnological method for composting that utilizes specific species of earthworms to improve the waste conversion process and generate a superior end product. Vermicomposting is simple to manage and provides nutrients along with growth hormones. The nutrient levels in vermicomposting are greater than those found in traditional compost. The procedure is quicker than composting since the organic material goes through the digestive system of earthworms, leading to a notable but not completely understood change. This process results in earthworm castings (worm manure) that are abundant in microbial activity, plant growth enhancers, and have properties that help repel pests!
