Abstract: The forests of West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, represent a rich and diverse ecosystem, providing a wide array of resources that are critical for the livelihoods of local communities. This study investigates the availability and utilization of animal-based products (such as honey, silk, and wild meat) and non-timber forest products (NTFPs) (including medicinal plants, fibers, fruits, and seeds) in the natural forests of the region. Through field surveys, interviews with local forest dwellers, and consultations with forest management authorities, the research identifies the key species and products harvested, as well as the socio-economic importance of these resources. The study also assesses the sustainability of harvesting practices and their impacts on the forest ecosystem. Results highlight the analysis of these products in rural economies, offering income, food security, and cultural value to the communities.
